Volunteer Opportunity
Location: Highland Park, IL Posted by: North Shore School District 112
Start: 01/18/2010
End: 01/18/2010
Opportunity Description: Fueled by President Obama’s call to service, North Shore School District 112 is teaming up with the City of Highland Park Human Relations Commission and community groups to participate in the Highland Park/Highwood Martin Luther King Day ON, Not Day OFF event set for Monday, Jan. 18, 2010.
The Highland Park Rec Center has graciously offered to host the event in the Rec Center gym from 9 a.m. to noon.
Partner with other members of the community by participating and completing fun, meaningful projects. Some of the projects will include putting together care packages for our soldiers, assembling toiletries for local shelters, making lunches for PADS, and writing letters for soldiers participating in Honor Flight Chicago just to name a few.
In past years, thousands of Americans across the country honored Dr. King by serving their communities. Help us celebrate Dr. King’s legacy in Highland Park by turning community concerns into citizen action.
Please register for this national day of volunteer service. A $5 donation to cover the cost of materials would be appreciated. Contact Cheryl Levi clevi@nssd112.org for further information.
