Opportunity Description: The Bookstock Mission
Bookstock, Used Book & Media Sale, is a community service project through which donations of books and media continue to provide enjoyment and knowledge. Proceeds from the sale support education and literacy projects in the Detroit metropolitan area and beyond.
The entire process of collecting and sorting gently used books and media, organizing and staffing the sale is 100% volunteer driven. This approach to recycling used books and media in order to raise money for education and literacy is what makes Bookstock a win-win endeavor for the community.

Opportunity Description: Mentoring an underprivileged Youth is program for volunteers to mentor youth resides in homeless shelters in southeastern Michigan.
The program also serves other Wayne counties, Toledo, OH and Lucas county. Underprivileged youths residing in low-income families, single parent homes, foster parents homes and the homeless shelter sector. These youths are often financially deprived and often at times becomes sadden, and depressed because they do not have many of the basic necessities that other children may have such as a new coat, new shoes, new toys, a hot meal and no entertainment activities in their lives due to underprivileged lifestyles.
Our Mentoring program will connect underprivileged youths with volunteers who are willing to take these youths out and spend a day with them whether it is at the library, local park, Shopping Mall, Bookstore, Circus, an amusement park, a restaurant and some other fun filled entertainment that allow they youth to feel good about themselves for that day and feel a sense of hope.
The program is open to any volunteer that is willing to donate their time to help the underprivileged youths residing in low-income communities and poverty-stricken communities in southeastern Michigan, other Wayne counties, Northern Toledo, OH and Lucas county.

Opportunity Description: The Gift Of Giving 2008 Book Drive collects new books for all ages0 through 4 and K through 12 all year round. Our mission is to end homelessness and illiteracy for people in southeast Michigan. Our program success is to help at risk children improve there reading skills and self-esteem. Our program The Gift of Giving Children’s Literacy Program will collaborate with parents, teachers and tutors that teach at risk children between the ages of 0 and 5 and K-12.
The program will host three distributions of three free books per children per academic year to increase the awareness of reading. We plan to serve at least 500 children for the 2006 academic year through this program. The program will allow each child to keep at least three books throughout the academic year. Each child will have the opportunity to pick out there own books without the help of any adult.
The Gift Of Giving 2008 Book Drive will help and assist the economically disadvantage. All books for ages K through 12 are welcome. If you are interested in volunteering to collect new books and/or donate new book for The Gift Of Giving 2008 Book Drive.

The campaign is collecting new coats and new boots to help clothe over 1000 needy children residing in distressed communities throughout metropolitan Detroit, Michigan and other Wayne counties.
The program will distribute new coats and new boots to needy children for back to school and/or during the holiday seasons. The program will serve Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties.
