Opportunity Description: This coming January will the 20th anniversary of MCTC’s annual Celebrate the Dream event honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Basilica of St. Mary in Downtown Minneapolis. We’ve had many gifted speakers and performers over the years that have provided inspiration and hope that extended beyond the evening of the event. Thousands of people have attended the Celebrate the Dream event to remember and celebrate Dr. King’s legacy. For the second year, in partnership with Target, MCTC is hosting the Power of GIVING MLK Day of Service.
This Power of GIVING MLK Day of Service will honor the life and work of Dr. King by giving volunteers the opportunity to join together with MCTC students, faculty, and community members to unite and take action to address important issues and needs in the community.
On Saturday, January 16, 2010, 200 volunteers will have the opportunity to serve at one of several local nonprofits that we are partnering with such as People Serving People, Simpson Housing Services, Bundles of Love, Sabathani Community Center , Goodwill/Easter Seals , and others.
