Start: 01/17/2008
End: 01/03/2013
Opportunity Description: Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities available at Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Park County:

The Community Prgram matches children between the ages of 6 and 16 with adults in the community. Matches are carefully made and supported by BBBS staff. Matches meet a minimum of 1 hour/week in a variety of settings outside of school for the child and work for the adult. Come join the fun as everyone is welcome!
Summer Buddies~check it out! This program is an 8 week long, outdoor-oriented mentor focused opportunity for children age 6-16. Children between these ages are matched with adults in the community for the summer where they participate in white water rafting, horseback riding, hiking, gardening and much, much more for 2 hours one day/week. If you want to feel like a kid at summer camp again, this is the program for you!
America Reads is a program in which adults are matched with a child (up to the 5th grade) whom they meet with one day/week for one hour. This program focuses on building a relationship/friendship with a child rather than on homework or learning to read; however there is a literacy component involved. Matches are supported and supervised by our professionally trained staff. The great part about this opportunity is that it is during the school year only!

Volunteer Opportunity
Location: Big Timber, MT Posted by: Sweet Grass County High School
Start: 11/01/2007
End: 06/01/2012
Opportunity Description: In cooperation with a local citizens committee, the students of SGHS have been involved in the planning of Dornix Park. The project is attempting to create a "natural" park at the original site of the community of Big Timber (called Dornix) which is located on the edge of town. To begin with, students were involved with Montana State Unviersity students, Big Timber city council, and community members in developing the concepts and plans for the 30 plus acre area. More recently, students have helped with cleaning and restoration of buildings on the old farm site on the property, removing and repairing fences, developing and cleaning along proposed paths/walkways, building and installing gates along paths, building and installing signs along paths, and exploring the history of the site and community. Future plans include further development of paths, possible growing areas/greenhouse, informational kiosks, etc. This is a long range development.
Days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday
